Teen extricated from crashed car in Hampton, official says

Investigators believe the teen was driving south on Catalpa Avenue when he crashed with an SUV traveling westbound on Victoria Boulevard, Jenrette said. A 17-year-old boy was extricated from the car he was driving after he was pinned inside during a crash in Hampton Tuesday morning, an official said. The teen was not taken to the hospital with injuries, but the man driving the SUV was. Police, firefighters and medics responded to the two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Victoria Boulevard and Catalpa Avenue about 10:40 a.m., Senior Police Officer Ashley Jenrette said at the scene. Firefighters on scene said they used hydraulic spreaders to pop open the driver's side door and pull the teen out.
