The driver ran a red light through the intersection of Portsmouth Boulevard and Effingham Street and struck the Nissan, which was making a left turn from Portsmouth Boulevard toward George Washington Highway, Holley said.

According to investigators, 21 year-old Jeffrey Adams of Alabama, was speeding down George Washington Highway and ran a red light on Portsmouth Boulevard, around 4:21 a.m. Police say the headlights on his red pickup truck were off.
