A mother has been pronounced dead after the vehicle she was inside with her husband and two small children crashed into a Suffolk pond Tuesday night.
A mother has been pronounced dead after the vehicle she was inside with her husband and two small children crashed into a Suffolk pond Tuesday night. Just before 8 p.m., a vehicle made by Nissan in the 6700 block of Burbage Landing Circle left the roadway and traveled into a retention pond, according to the Suffolk Police. The male driver, 25-year-old London Dubois Jr. of Suffolk, was airlifted by Nightingale to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with life-threatening injuries. police said a citizen rescued a two-year-old girl and three-year-old boy from the pond before rescue units arrived and neighbors warmed them until they were transported to Sentara and CHKD. The children’s mother, 23-year-old Latasha Dubois, was located in the water after the Suffolk Police Department Dive Team responded. She was transported to Maryview Hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased. The pond water was about four to five feet deep. Police said the cause of the crash is still being investigated.
