A woman who stopped to help a 79-year-old man who was hit by a vehicle Wednesday night was taken to a local hospital after she herself was struck by a different vehicle.

Police were called to the initial accident in the 2300 block of Godwin Boulevard near Pruden Boulevard just after 8:15 p.m., according to a news release from Suffolk spokeswoman.

In their preliminary investigation, police found that a 79-year-old man who lives in the area walked into oncoming traffic and in the path of a Honda driven by a 29-year-old woman.

A different vehicle hit a woman who stopped to help the man in the median and was taken to Sentara Obici Hospital with no visible injuries, Klink said.
