Police are investigating what caused the motorcycle to crash, but alcohol has been ruled out.

Officials say they responded to the motorcycle accident around 12:28 p.m. on the 1300 block of Mill Landing Road. It is believed the couple was traveling Southeast on Mill Landing Road when the male driver and female passenger were thrown off the motorcycle after driving off the roadway and onto a gravel shoulder in Virginia Beach. Both victims were taken to the local hospital and are expected to recover.
