Death of driver after crash on I-95 in Caroline County ruled homicide

Virginia State Police are investigating after the driver of a vehicle died after a crash, and they say he was suffering from a gunshot wound. (Source: NBC12) Police identified the driver as 43-year-old Vernon Huff.Virginia State Police have ruled the death of a driver following a crash on I-95 in Caroline County a homicide. Anyone who may have any information about this incident is asked to please contact the Virginia State Police at 804-553-3445 or #77 on a cell phone, or email questions@vsp.virginia.gov. State police are still in the process of retracing the driver’s movements leading up to the shooting and eventual crash. The man's remains have been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Richmond for examination and autopsy. Officers say Huff was found shot multiple times after crashing his car on Interstate 95 near the Route 207 exit, around 2:40 a.m. on October 30.
