The man who slammed into a marked Prince George’s County police cruiser Friday morning had a blood alcohol level that was twice the legal limit, authorities said.
The man who slammed into a marked Prince George’s County police cruiser Friday morning had a blood alcohol level that was twice the legal limit, authorities said. Police arrested 32-year-old Devonne Brooks, who faces charges for allegedly driving under the influence during the crash that sent a police officer to a hospital. The incident happened about 1:30 a.m. Friday near Baltimore Avenue and Muirkirk Meadows Drive in Laurel. Brooks crossed into oncoming traffic while heading north on Baltimore Avenue to pass another car and hit Officer Andrew Wallman’s cruiser. A photo from Prince George’s police shows the front end of the police car smashed. Wallman, a seven-year veteran of the department, was on duty at the time and was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. He has been released.
