State police investigating fatal hit-and-run in Amelia County

AMELIA COUNTY, Va. — An investigation is underway after a woman was struck and killed in Amelia County Thursday afternoon. State Police identify 70-year-old victim of fatal hit and run

The Virginia State Police have released the name of the elderly woman killed in a fatal hit and run in Amelia County Thursday. 70-year-old Gale N. LaFountain was walking east on Oak Grove Loop when she was hit by a vehicle. A driver called the Amelia County Sheriff’s Office to report seeing a person in a ditch around 3 p.m. Deputies pronounced LaFountain dead at the scene.
