Julio Francisco Alvarez Martinez, 22, killed, female driver and 2 passengers of second car taken to hospital, after head-on crash on State Route 41 in Pittsylvania County.

A man was killed and three other people were injured in a head-on collision in Pittsylvania County Wednesday.

Julio Francisco Alvarez Martinez, 22, of Axton, died in the crash around 5 p.m. on Route 41 south of Route 750.

The driver of the second car and two of her passengers were taken to the hospital. Their conditions aren't known.

Martinez was driving a 1995 Toyota car south on Route 41 when it crossed the center line and hit a Dodge car head-on, troopers said.

Martinez, who wasn't wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation continues.
