Wrong-Way Driver Killed in I-395 Crash: PD

Two drivers who died in a multiple-vehicle wrong-way crash in the HOV lanes of I-395. Robert Trimpe, 55, of Springfield was traveling northbound in the HOV lanes just before 10 p.m. Thursday when he crashed into a Toyota Avalon. The HOV lanes were traveling southbound at the time. The driver of an Infiniti collided with Trimpe's Honda CRV and the Avalon. Trimpe was pronounced deceased at the crash site. The driver of the Avalon, 75-year-old William Betternberg, died at a local hospital. The driver of the Infiniti suffered minor injuries.
