Five people were injured, one severely, after a vehicle crashed, rolled over, and caught fire on Georgetown Pike early Thursday morning.

The 29-year-old driver from D.C. and his front seat passenger have been treated and released from the hospital. Three of the back seat passengers, all females from D.C. are still in the hospital, police said. Two are in life-threatening condition, according to authorities. One of the women was flown to the Washington Burn Center. The other victims have broken bones and other injuries.

Five people sustained injuried after a vehicle crashed, rolled over, and caught fire on Georgetown Pike just east of Old Dominion Dr. around 12:30 a.m. All five occupants were removed from the vehicle, with only one requiring a medivac to a local hospital. The other four victims were taken by ground to nearby hospitals and are expected to recover. Check back for more information as it becomes available.
