Three-vehicle collision blocks Highway 99

Highway 99 in Hazel Dell was blocked for about two hours Thursday evening after a three-car collision.

Highway 99 in Hazel Dell was blocked for about two hours Thursday evening after a three-car collision.

Nobody was injured in the collision, but both directions of the highway were closed near Northeast 112th Street because there was debris and gasoline on the roadway.

A vehicle was traveling north on Highway 99 and stopped for traffic to turn left onto Northeast 112th Street when it was rear-ended by another vehicle. The first vehicle was pushed into oncoming traffic and struck by another car, Phillips said. The fuel tank in one of the vehicles ruptured, spilling a lot of gas onto the roadway.

The driver responsible for the crash will be cited for following too closely.
