Dennis G. Sarton, 60, killed, Wanda K. Dodd, 48, Eldon L. Ford, 33, seriously injured, both transported to hospital, after a pickup, car, and motorcycle collide on northbound I-5 near Ridgefield.

A Vancouver man driving a motorcycle died in a three-vehicle crash Monday afternoon on Interstate 5 just south of Ridgefield, and two other drivers were hospitalized. The collision occurred around 1 p.m. in the northbound lanes of the freeway under the Carty Road overpass. A Ford F-250 pickup driven by Eldon L. Ford, 33, of Ontario, Ore., slowed to pull onto the right shoulder and was struck from behind by a Honda CR-V driven by Wanda K. Dodd, 48, of Bellingham. Dodd then lost control of her vehicle and struck a Harley-Davison motorcycle driven in the middle lane by Dennis G. Sarton, 60, of Vancouver. The CR-V rolled multiple times. The motorcycle went off the roadway and Sarton was flung from the bike. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Fire personnel extricated Dodd from the CR-V, and she was taken by ambulance to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. LifeFlight was called to transport her but was not available. Ford, the driver of the pickup, was transported to Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center.
