One person was killed when their car caught on fire after striking another vehicle on a residential stretch of Barkley Boulevard Sunday morning, Jan. 5, according to police.

The walk is being carried on by students and community volunteers as a legacy left byHannah Dashiell. The senior at Squalicum High School had planned to put on the event as a service-learning project before she was killed in a car crash Jan. 5, 2014.  

One person was killed when their car caught on fire after striking another vehicle on Barkley Boulevard Sunday morning, Jan. 5. One vehicle was headed down the hill on Barkley Boulevard around 9:55 a.m. when it slid on the icy road, crossed the centerline and hit another car headed up the hill. The downhill car caught on fire, and witnesses were unable to help the driver out of the vehicle before it was engulfed in flames. That driver died at the scene, and the other driver was not injured.
