Woman hit and killed while crossing street in Edmonds

An officer at the scene said the woman was crossing the street in a crosswalk when a woman driving an SUV turned onto Bell and hit her. The victim was pronounce dead at the scene.

Lexie J. Hess, 73, died of blunt-force injuries to the head and torso, according to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office. Hess was crossing Fourth Avenue North on eastbound Bell Street when she was struck by an SUV driven by a 36-year-old Edmonds woman. Hess was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police, a vehicle was turning left from Bell to Fourth when the vehicle struck the woman, who was crossing the street.

A 73-year-old woman was hit and killed Tuesday evening while crossing a street in Edmonds. The woman was hit at about 7:30 p.m. at 4th and Bell in Downtown Edmonds. The woman was crossing the street in a crosswalk when a woman driving an SUV turned onto Bell and hit her. The victim was pronounce dead at the scene. The driver immediately stopped and is cooperating with police. It's unclear if the woman will be ticketed or arrested.
