Man dies in diving accident at Edmonds dive park

The 60-year-old Marysville man had been in a group of divers who had been volunteering their time for a maintenance project at the underwater dive park north of the ferry dock.
A man died while scuba diving near the Edmonds ferry dock on Saturday afternoon. A ferry crew notified 911 dispatchers when they spotted the diver floating in the water near the dock at about 12:15 p.m. "The crew deployed a small rescue boat from the ferry and brought the diver to the beach south of the dock. Firefighters on the beach performed CPR, but were unable to revive the diver," said Leslie Hynes, public information officer for Snohomish County Fire District 1, which provides fire and emergency medical service in the City of Edmonds. His fellow divers told firefighters the man who died was an experienced diver and well acquainted with the park.
