The incident happened just before noon near Newport Way NW and NW Oakcrest Drive. Issaquah police say the boy was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle in critical condition. Police are still on the scene and haven't given any further details yet what led up to the crash, but video from Air 4 showed a small bicycle near the crash scene.

Car hits boy on bicycle in crosswalk on Newport Way Northwest

A 5-year-old boy was hit by a car in a crosswalk at Newport Way Northwest and Northwest Oakcrest Drive at about 11:30 a.m. today. Newport Way Northwest is closed in both directions from state Route 900 to Northwest Oakcrest Drive. For residents of Northwest Oakcrest Drive, the inevitable happened. As officers escorted her away from the accident scene, they quickly discovered she spoke no English. But it was unclear for her, or the officers, who arrived after the boy was taken from the accident scene, whether his mother was with him when he was hit.

News sources are reporting the boy's age as either 4- or 5-years-old.
