An elderly woman died Wednesday night when she was hit by a car in Lacey, police said.

The crash happened about 6:45 p.m. at Ruddell Road Southeast and 19th Avenue Southeast. The driver stopped immediately, and that multiple vehicles pulled over to try to help the 77-year-old woman, who died at the scene. The woman was not in a marked crosswalk when she was hit, and that police were still investigating.
