Pedestrian critically hurt in Belltown crash

The victim wasn't breathing and was bleeding profusely. The driver said she didn't see him because it was so dark and rainy. The impact left a dent in her car’s hood and smashed its windshield. The pedestrian was wearing an orange construction vest.

A man died Wednesday morning in Seattle's Belltown neighborhood after being hit by a car at the intersection of Boren Avenue and Virginia Street. The man was not using a crosswalk at the time of the accident. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition, where he died. The driver, a nurse who was on her way to work, was given a field sobriety test, though was not arrested for DUI.

Fatal pedestrian accidents are all too common, especially in the dark winter months when visibility is lower. Learn more about pedestrian accidents here.
