Driver arrested after killing cyclist in Roosevelt crash

A 45-year-old cyclist was killed Saturday night in the Roosevelt neighborhood by a suspected intoxicated driver. Witnesses called 911 after the driver of a red Subaru struck the bicyclist around 11 p.m. The 29-year-old was arrested at the scene. Seattle Police Department Traffic Collision investigators believe the driver was heading eastbound on NE 65th Street when he struck the cyclist from behind near 15th Avenue NE. Officers determined the suspect was intoxicated at the scene, and he was arrested for vehicular homicide. The victim was transferred to Harborview Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.

The Seattle Times reports that he lived in Seattle since the early 90s and moved to Lake Forest Park earlier this year.
