Driver charged with homicide for fatal crash in Deer Park

DEER PARK, Wash. – The driver of a fatal crash is being charged with Vehicular Homicide for a crash on early Sunday morning on US Route 2 near Deer Park, according to Washington State Patrol. His condition was not able to be released, according to officials at Sacred Heart. Nauert was transported to Sacred Heart for treatment. WSP said William Nauert, 23, was driving northbound on US Route 2 at a "high rate of speed" at around 4 a.m. WSP said both Nauert and Greenwood were wearing seat belts and that drugs or alcohol were involved.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but troopers believe drugs or alcohol did play a role. Nauert's passenger, identified as 23-year-old Ryan D. Greenwood, died at the scene of the crash. Sunday morning on Highway 2 at milepost 297. Both Nauert and Greenwood were wearing seatbelts.
