A Whatcom County Fire District 7 SUV was damaged in a crash Tuesday morning, Feb. 11, when it slid on a patch of ice as it was responding to a crash, according to district officials.

Crews were responding to a rollover crash on an icy portion of Mountain View Road at North Star Road at about 9:30 a.m., when the SUV slid on a patch of ice on Mountain View and Church Road, assistant chief Larry Hoffman said. The SUV went off the road and crashed into the trees.

No one was injured, but the vehicle sustained significant damage to its front end and back passenger side. The crash was a reminder that everyone needs to be cautious when it's cold enough for icy roads, Hoffman said, noting that there were multiple calls about cars in ditches because of slick conditions that morning.

No one was injured in the rollover crash to which crews were responding.
