Driver sentenced in crash that killed Lynden teen

A 20-year-old man smoked marijuana and took cold medicine before racing on a rural road west of Lynden, causing a rollover crash that killed his 18-year-old passenger last week, according to court records.

Washington State Patrol releases name of woman killed in Badger Road crash

Washington State Patrol has released the name of the woman killed in a rollover crash on Friday evening, Oct. 4, on West Badger Road west of Lynden.

Desirae Garrison-Jones, 18, of Lynden was killed when the car she was a passenger in went off the road, flipped and crashed into a power pole on the passenger side. The pole sheared and landed on top of the overturned car.

A rollover crash west of Lynden left one young woman dead Friday evening, Oct. 4, according to the Washington State Patrol.

A Whatcom County man has been sentenced to almost two years in prison for causing a crash that killed a teenage girl in October on West Badger Road. Twenty-one-year-old Curtis Guerrero-Marquez says he was racing another car when his car flipped and hit a utility pole. Eighteen-year-old Desirae Diamond Garrison-Jones of Lynden was a passenger, she died at the scene. Guerrero-Marquez pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide.
