Wounds of Milwaukee crossing guard struck by hit-and-run driver require amputation

Tyler was walking east along Carmen Avenue toward Kluge Elementary School. As he crossed N. 22nd Street, a northbound car slammed into Tyler and kept going.

Tyler has been employed by the Milwaukee Police Department for the last nine years as a crossing guard.

Angry and relieved — that’s how the daughter of the crossing guard killed in a hit-and-run last month, describes her feelings. The suspected driver has now been arrested and charged.

Terrence Harris, 35, was in court Thursday, Jan. 25 for his preliminary hearing, which he waived. Probable cause was found for further proceedings and Harris was bound over for trial.
