Seattle man, brother on board missing single-engine plane

Park County sheriff's officials say the 1963 Mooney M20C was last seen Tuesday departing Yellowstone Regional Airport in Cody. On board were 84-year-old Robert L. Zimmerman of Huntsville, Alabama, and 86-year-old Ward H. Zimmerman of Seattle. The brothers were headed from Cody to Twin Falls, Idaho, and from there to Seattle.

2 bodies recovered from Wyoming plane crash

The bodies of Robert L. Zimmerman, 84, of Huntsville, Alabama, and Ward H. Zimmerman, 86, were airlifted off Howell Mountain on Tuesday, three weeks after their 1963 Mooney M20C was last seen.

The brothers took off May 6 from Cody, Wyoming near Yellowstone Park. They planned to fly around the park before heading to Twin Falls, Idaho, and then Seattle. According to authorities, the wreckage suggests that the plane hit the mountain about 300 feet below its summit and then slid down to its final resting place. Both men were found in their seats and are believed to have died on impact.
