The Wyoming Highway Patrol identified Wednesday the three people who died following a head-on collision just south of Midwest on Monday evening.

WHP: Three Killed in March 2nd Wreck on Wyoming Highway 259

A third vehicle involved in the crash is still under investigation at this time. The crash did cause the temporary closure of the highway with traffic being detoured.

The patrol says a 1999 Ford Taurus, driven by 51-year-old Scott Burgess, of Mills, was travelling south when it went out of control and collided head on with a northbound 2008 Chevrolet Cruze driven by 28-year-old Dustin Jutting of Wright.

At the time of the accident, Wyoming was suffering from a massive snowstorm that left most of the state covered in at least a foot of snow. Scott Burgess was driving south on Highway 259 in low visibility when he lost control of his car and span into oncoming traffic. Dustin Jutting, who was driving in the opposite direction, attempted to avoid Burgess's car but the two vehicles crashed head-on. Burgess and Jutting died at the scene, and a passenger in Jutting's car, Jennifer Griffith, was transported to a local medical center where she also died. A child was riding with Jutting and Griffith who sustained minor injuries. The child was treated and released from Wyoming Medical Center. This crash is still under investigation.
