Two critical after Washington County crash

Sherlene Olaguez, 55, was driving north Friday evening on Interstate 15 when she "might have suffered a medical condition, which caused her to lose control of her vehicle," said Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Lawrence Hopper.

Two people were critically hurt after a car crashed head-on into a semi-truck near Washington.

Sherlene Olaguez, 55, was driving north Friday evening on Interstate 15 when she "might have suffered a medical condition, which caused her to lose control of her vehicle," said Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Lawrence Hopper. About 7:55 p.m., Olaguez crossed into the southbound lanes, where she crashed head-on into a semi near mile marker 13, the trooper said.

The car caught fire upon impact, though the flames were extinguished quickly, Hopper said. Olaguez, of Page, Ariz., and her passenger — who investigators did not immediately identify — were flown in a medical helicopter to Dixie Regional Medical Center in critical condition.

The semi-truck driver was not hurt, Hopper added.
