Two people were killed in a head-on, wrong-way crash in Henry County during a chase that started in Rockingham County early Friday morning.
Two people were killed in a head-on, wrong-way crash in Henry County during a chase that started in Rockingham County early Friday morning. The crash happened in the northbound lanes near Morehead Avenue in Ridgeway, WSLS reported. The names of neither driver have been released. According to a statement from the Rockingham County Sheriff's Office, a deputy began chasing a black Ford F-150 pickup truck that was driving erratically on Martinsville Loop Road in Stoneville. It got onto Hwy. 220 and started going northbound in the southbound lanes, deputies said. The chasing deputy remained on the northbound side as the truck crossed into Virginia. Virginia State Police took over the pursuit until the pickup collided with a car while still going the wrong way on Hwy. 220, deputies said. Virginia State Police are investigating the crash. All five lanes of Hwy. 220 were closed during the on-scene investigation.
