WA deputy, 5 others hurt as vehicles crash

The Washington State Patrol says a King County sheriff's deputy was one of six people hurt in a Monday evening crash that involved three vehicles near the Pierce County town of Orting.

UPDATE as of 10:54 p.m. The State Patrol says six people were injured in the crash. A 36-year-old Orting man stopped to turn left onto 144th Street East in a tan 2004 Kia Sedona van, with three passengers between the ages of six and 13, according to the State Patrol. An 18-year-old Orting man slowed a maroon 2000 two-door Ford Mustang he was driving, which was pushed into the van when it was hit by a white four-door 2009 Ford Crown Victoria driven by a 28-year-old Orting man, according to the State Patrol. All six people involved were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup.

A King County Sheriff’s Deputy was among five people injured in a three-car crash near Orting. The crash happened about 5:30 p.m. at state Route 162 and 144th Street East. The injuries were non life-threatening. SR 162 was closed near the crash in both directions until about 9:30 p.m.
