Man arrested after ramming deputies cruiser following chase. Deputy slightly injured.
Thurston Co. deputy's patrol car rammed during Rainier pursuit.
Thurston County sheriff's deputies arrested a 31-year-old man about 6:30 a.m. Thursday morning after he rammed a deputy's patrol car during a pursuit in Rainier, according to a news release.
A deputy attempted to stop the erratically-driven vehicle in the area of Tipsoo Loop SE near Rainier. The vehicle refused to stop and a chase ensued at speeds of up to 70 miles per hour.
The suspect's vehicle drove into oncoming lanes and failed to stop at stop signs during the pursuit. The suspect then drove down a dead end road near 129th Lane SE and Rolling Hills Lane SE in the Rainier area.
The suspect rammed the pursuing sheriff's deputy with his vehicle, then drove through a yard. As the suspect attempted to ram the deputy again with his vehicle, the deputy drove into the suspect's car, causing it to roll over.
The deputy then arrested the 31-year-old suspect. The suspect was uninjured. He was arrested on suspicion of attempting to elude a police vehicle, first-degree assault, and an outstanding state Department of Corrections warrant.
The sheriff's deputy suffered minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital for an evaluation.
