Woman arrested after fatal crash in Silverdale

A 28-year-old woman was arrested after a crash in Silverdale that left another woman dead. Sheriff's patrol deputies and State Patrol Troopers had responded to the 3300 block of NW Byron Street, in Old Town Silverdale, around 1 a.m., for a 911 dispatch of a domestic violence incident that had allegedly occurred inside a local night spot.

A 2013 Lincoln MKS was spotted outside the bar, and deputies briefly detained a man who was standing outside the vehicle for questioning. But when deputies attempted to talk to the 28-year-old woman inside the vehicle, she refused to cooperate, slid from the passenger seat to the driver's seat and suddenly accelerated from the scene, nearly striking nearby pedestrians. The Lincoln MKS fled west on Byron Street, then turned north onto Silverdale Way and headed north at extreme speed. The car ran a red light at Bucklin Hill Road and slammed into the passenger side of a 2009 Nissan Versa that was driving through the intersection on a green light. The force of the collision caused the Nissan to spin around several times and finally stop about 100 yards away, leaving a trail of debris behind it, deputies said. The Lincoln then slammed into a steel light pole, shearing it off at the base, and finally came to rest against a traffic control island. What money damages are recoverable in a death claim?
