A Ridgefield man caused a second crash after he allegedly tried to film the scene of a fatal crash while he was driving. Devin Braithwaite, 19, was driving a 2011 Dodge Charger south on Interstate 5 near the Northeast 179th Street Friday night when he approached the scene of an earlier fatal crash. Earlier in the evening, Sergey A. Bondarchuk, 18, of Vancouver lost control of a 1997 Acura sedan and struck a tree. He was declared dead at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. While passing the scene, Braithwaite tried to record the scene with his cell phone. Braithwaite’s vehicle then struck the vehicle in front of him and nearly struck a trooper in a patrol vehicle and another trooper who was standing nearby. The driver of the vehicle that Braithwaite struck was taken to an area hospital with spinal pain. Braithwaite told troopers he had been recording the crash site. He was cited for suspicion of reckless driving and reckless endangerment of emergency workers.
