Multiple-vehicle accident on I-469 in Allen County leaves one woman dead

One woman died following a late afternoon accident involving multiple vehicles Monday on Interstate 469 north of New Haven, the Allen County Sheriff’s Department said. Officers were dispatched to the 21 mile marker on I-469 northbound, near North River Road, after a report of a crash about 4:25 p.m. Sheriff’s department officers and medics found six vehicles involved, including a semi tractor-trailer.

Police confirmed the woman's SUV was rear-ended by a semi-truck causing a chain reaction with five other vehicles, a second person involved in the crash was taken to the hospital with no one else sustaining any serious injuries.

The Allen County Sheriff’s Department said traffic was stopped in the area due to construction when a semi rear-ended a car, causing a pile-up involving five vehicles.
