A 65-year-old man was airlifted to the hospital after he was thrown off a moped. James Bourdo of Shelbyville was riding the moped on Wildwood Road, near the intersection of Fawn Lake Road in Orangeville Township when the crash occurred around 5:40 p.m. Saturday. Authorities said Bourdo was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and suffered severe injuries. West Michigan Air Care transported Bourdo to Borgess Hospital where he underwent surgery and is listed in critical condition.

A wreck involving a motor scooter Wednesday morning injured two people in Wellington. The crash occurred around 7 a.m. near the intersection of Palm Beach Point Boulevard and Sunnyland Lane. When rescue crews arrived, they found two patients lying on the road, according to Palm Beach County Fire Rescue Cpt. Albert Borroto. The two patients were taken by Trauma Hawk to St. Mary's Hospital.

Two people were hospitalized following an accident at Koval Lane near Harmon Avenue Monday morning. The accident happened shortly after 2 a.m. Police say the victims, 27-year-old Chris Leichtweiss, who was driving, and 19-year-old Tiffany Nelson, who was a passenger, were riding their moped southbound on Koval, when a vehicle rear-ended them. The impact sent the moped forward approximately 300 to 500 feet and caused Leichtweiss and Nelson to become separated from the bike.

A man riding a mini-bike the wrong way on a one-way street Sunday afternoon slammed into a car at an intersection, knocking out several of his teeth and causing critical head injuries, police said. The man, who turned 21 Monday, was not wearing a helmet during the 1:58 p.m. crash at East 25th Street and Chestnut Avenue, according to police.

A Maui woman is dead after she was hit by a vehicle in Lahaina on Monday afternoon. Police say 50-year-old Mary Fletcher of Kahului was on her moped, when she was hit from behind by a vehicle on Honoapiilani highway. She was pronounced dead at the hospital. The driver of the vehicle suffered minor injuries. This is Maui county’s eighth traffic fatality this year.

According to the fire department, a 26-year-old was seriously injured after a moped collided with a vehicle Monday afternoon. The accident occurred on 48th Street and Grays Ferry Avenue in the Kingsessing section of the city. The victim was transported to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. It is unclear if anyone else was injured.

Officials say a 55-year-old man was seriously injured Sunday when he crashed his scooter. Police say around 8 p.m. Sunday, they got a call that 55-year-old Glenn Strunk had been in a one vehicle accident on US 231 just north of Spencer. According to a report, Strunk’s scooter left the roadway and crashed into a concrete drainage ditch. Strunk is hospitalized with a severe head injury. The accident is still under investigation.

A 24-year-old newlywed who was honeymooning in Hawaii with her husband died after a motor vehicle collision near Turtle Bay on Oahu's North Shore, according to police. Police officials say the woman was driving a moped in the Haleiwa-bound direction on Kamehameha Highway near the entrance to the resort when she veered into oncoming traffic and collided with a truck. "For unknown reasons, the wife went wide across the double-sided line and hit a truck that was southbound on Kamehameha Highway," said Lt. Robert Towne of HPD's Traffic Division.

One person was killed after an accident in the Buechel neighborhood of Louisville. According to a Louisville Metro Police Department spokesperson, the wreck happened at 8:30 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Glen Oak Drive and Bradford Drive. Mitchell said a preliminary investigation revealed the driver of a Jeep Cherokee was traveling westbound on Bradford Drive and attempted to make a left turn onto Glen Oak Drive. While the Jeep was turning it collided with a man who was driving a moped southbound on Glen Oak Drive.

Police say 46-year-old Donald Davis of Millsboro was riding a scooter southbound on Cooper Road. While turning at a sharp left curve, investigators say he crossed into the northbound lanes, lost control and was ejected from the scooter, crashing into a ditch. Davis, who police say was not wearing a helmet, struck his head on the pavement and was pronounced dead at the scene.
