A fiery accident involving two tractor trailers shut down a portion of Interstate 20 in Douglas County for several hours Thursday afternoon.

Troopers with the Georgia State Patrol say a tractor trailer caught fire after running into the back of another just shutting down all eastbound traffic just past Lee Road just shortly after noon Thursday.

Westbound traffic was also delayed due to onlooker delays.

One lane of traffic was opened around 3:30 p.m. as wreckers worked to haul away the pair of semis.

Delays are expected through the evening rush hour.

According to officials with the Pearl Police Department, an accident happened this morning at I-20 and Pearson Road. According to Pearl police, two single cab trucks collided. One truck rear-ended the other coming down the I-20 West exit ramp. The driver in the vehicle that rear-ended the truck was airlifted to UMC. His truck leaked oil and gas, and caught fire while he was inside. Firefighters had to cut him out of his truck. Crews were cleaning up the spilled chemicals. There is no word on his injuries.

A pilot suffered a minor injury Tuesday when he tried to land his single-engine plane at a former horse racing track in Parker County. According to the Parker County Sheriff, the pilot was intentionally trying to land at the Trinity Meadows Race Track when he misjudged the distance and ran out of track. It is not yet known why the pilot was trying to land at the track or how serious his or her injuries may be. The track, a horse racing venue that closed years ago, sits just north of Interstate 20 in Willow Park about midway between Fort Worth and Weatherford

A MARTA handicapped van crashed on I-20 in DeKalb County late Monday morning, injuring the driver and a passenger.

The MARTA Mobility van was eastbound on I-20 past Flat Shoals Road around 10:30 a.m. when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle left the roadway, a MARTA spokesman stated.

The driver was ejected from the van, and was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, along with the sole passenger on board.

The conditions of the driver and passenger were not immediately available.

A person was thrown from a bridge during a multi-vehicle crash along Interstate 20 Thursday night.

Two tractor trailers and seven other vehicles were involved in the crash near the Anglin overpass and I-20 in Forest Hill, according to MedStar.

MedStar confirmed that someone was thrown off the bridge onto the railroad tracks below. Kennedale EMS transported the victim to the hospital.

It is unknown at this time the severity of the person's injuries.

MedStar said three other people were injured and all suffered minor injuries.
