Troopers are investigating a crash in Perry County that killed a man. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, at about 12 a.m. Saturday, 21-year-old Mark E. Metzger, of Junction City Ohio, was driving a 1998 GMC truck southbound on Toll Gate Road, just south of U.S. 22 near Reading Township, when he lost control of his vehicle. Troopers say the truck traveled off the left side of the road and struck a tree. Metzger was partially ejected in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Licking County man was killed yesterday afternoon when two vehicles crashed at an intersection in northern Fairfield County, the State Highway Patrol said.

Donald S. Hartman, 81, of Ridge Road near Thornville, died at the scene of the crash at Rt. 158 and Blacklick Road.

Dolores K. Tyo, 36, of Pataskala, was in fair condition last night in OhioHealth Grant Medical Center in Columbus.

The crash occurred just before 2:45 p.m.

Troopers say a driver running a stop sign is to blame for a crash on state Route 188 Wednesday night.

According to troopers from the Lancaster post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Mary S. Mathias, 61, of Lancaster, was traveling southbound on state Route 188 in a 2002 Oldsmobile Alero. At the same time, Dallas A. Schilling, 29, of Baltimore was traveling westbound on Highpoint Road in a 2002 Hyundai Accent.

Schilling failed to yield to a stop sign on Highpoint Road at S.R. 188 and struck the side of Mathias' vehicle.

The Lancaster post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash that occurred on Tunnel Hill Road in Perry County Tuesday evening.

Troopers responded to Tunnel Hill Road, just east of Melon Hill Road, at about 8:56 a.m.

According to the report, Charles L. Mauller, 33, of Crooksville, was traveling eastbound on Tunnel Hill Road in a 1991 Ford Ranger truck when he lost control of the vehicle.

The truck traveled off the right side of the road, struck a guardrail and a culvert, before overturning.

A man was injured when his vehicle crashed into a train in the City of New Lexington early Sunday morning.

Troopers from the Lancaster post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol say Michael W. Brindgardner, 55, of New Lexington was traveling northbound on High Street at about 2:35 a.m. Sunday when he failed to stop at a railroad crossing.

His vehicle struck a train traveling eastbound at approximately 8 mph. Officials confirm the railroad crossing signals were fully operational with flashing red lights and a red stop gate.
