A man who was driving the wrong way on the Niagara Thruway for several miles early Monday morning and then struck a roadside construction crane is facing charges of drunken driving, according to Lewiston Police. Douglas P. Pytlik Jr., 32, of Linwood Avenue, North Tonawanda, was charged with felony driving while intoxicated and reckless driving.

A wrong-way crash on Interstate 81 in Cumberland County left one woman dead on Tuesday night. State police say a tractor-trailer crashed head-on into a vehicle headed north in the southbound lanes in Silver Spring Township. The collision happened after the truck sideswiped another vehicle trying to avoid the oncoming car. The crash happened shortly before 9 p.m. on I-81 near mile marker 57 outside of Mechanicsburg. The driver of the wrong-way vehicle, Aaron King, of Carlisle, was killed

Police said one person has died in a head-on crash following a wrong-way driver's trip down U.S. 75. Richardson police were following a wrong-way driver in a silver Nissan Murano who was headed southbound in the northbound lanes of U.S. 75/Central Expressway around 4 a.m. Monday. Police say the Murano driver clipped a vehicle traveling northbound in the 9000 block of North Central Expressway and kept going. No one was injured. A short time later, just north of Hall Street in Dallas, the driver of the Murano crashed head-on into a tan Toyota Camry.

57-year-old Barry Scutt from Batavia is dead following a wrong-way crash in Canandaigua on Saturday. The accident happened on Route 5 around 3 p.m. when 68-year-old Steven Kloos was driving west on Route 5 when he lost control and blacked out at the wheel due to a medical condition. Kloos then struck a mailbox and road sign with his car according to the Ontario County Sheriff's Office. Kloos' vehicle then continued westbound on Route 5 in the eastbound lane and struck 57 year old Barry Scutt head on.

Two people are injured – one critically – after a wrong-way crash on southbound I-35 in Pleasant Valley Friday morning. It happened just south of 152 Highway around 4 a.m. Police stated that a car was driving northbound in the southbound lanes when it struck another vehicle. One person has life-threatening injuries. A second victim has minor injuries.

Authorities say three people have died in a wreck caused by a 28-year-old woman who was drinking on her birthday and drove the wrong way on Interstate 77 in Fairfield County. Investigators said Takeya Taylor, of Columbia, was driving the wrong way around 2:30 a.m. Thursday in the southbound lanes of I-77 about five miles from Winnsboro when she hit another vehicle head on. The coroner's office said Taylor was killed, along with the driver of the other car, 48-year-old Lisa Jefferson, and one of her passengers, 46-year-old Wallace Green. A second passenger in the car remains in the hospital.

The head-on collision late Wednesday that killed two drivers is fourth fatal wreck involving drivers heading the wrong way on U.S. Highway 1 between Southern Pines and Sanford in the last six years, according to authorities. A Toyota SUV driven by Terrell Abbott, 36, of Texas, was southbound in the northbound lanes of U.S. 1 north of Southern Pines at about 10:45 p.m. when it slammed into a Toyota sedan driven by Jasmine Wicker, 20, of Sanford, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said.

Police are investigating a deadly head-on crash in Southwest Miami-Dade that killed three people and sent two others to the hospital early Sunday. The violent wreck happened around 1:45 a.m. in the area of Krome Avenue and Southwest 144th Street, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. "The impact was so severe that both vehicles caught on fire," a FHP spokesman said. The FHP is still investigating the cause of the crash.

Aided by a witness who followed a hit-and-run driver, police arrested a Youngstown woman on a variety of charges early Saturday stemming from an accident on the Robert Moses Parkway. According to reports, the suspect struck a car driven by a Youngstown man around 5:30 a.m., then drove away from the scene. A witness to the accident followed the fleeing driver, and sheriff’s deputies were able to stop her car on Blairville Road a short time later. Carole R. Rossi displayed signs of intoxication and was found to have a blood-alcohol content of 0.16, twice the legal limit, police said.

Virginia State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash in Gloucester Friday where a driver was trapped inside his vehicle and passed away. Around 12 p.m., a State Trooper was dispatched to the crash in the 5200 block of Route 17 (George Washington Memorial Highway) and found a 2000 Lincoln Town car had run off the road and struck a retaining wall. according to a VSP Sergeant the driver was trapped inside his vehicle and died at the scene shortly after the crash.
