Three people were injured when a fishing boat ran aground in Anacapa Island off the coast of Port Hueneme Monday. The boat, known as Sea Biscuit, ran aground at Anacapa Island around 12:26 a.m., and was carrying about two dozen people. Authorities say those onboard the boat sent a distress signal. That's when Oxnard firefighters jumped on a Coast Guard boat from the Channel Islands Harbor in Oxnard and responded to the scene. It took crews two hours to tow the boat back to the mainland.

A high-speed chase through some of the busiest streets of San Francisco ended in a crash, and the suspect was taken into custody. It started when police stopped the suspect in the Bayview District. Police said the suspect was acting suspiciously as though in possession of a weapon or contraband, and took off. Officers pursued the suspect on a high-speed chase through the Bayview, Taravel and Ingleside neighborhoods. At one point the suspect rammed a vehicle and almost hit a patrol car. Shots were fired, hitting the car but missing the suspect.

A 20-year-old woman was killed Monday when an alleged drunken driver slammed the car she was traveling in into a pole, authorities said. The crash happened about 12:30 a.m. in the 17000 block of Roscoe Boulevard in Northridge, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The driver of a late-model Ford Focus was speeding when he failed to negotiate an S-shaped turn in the road and lost control, according to a LAPD Detective.

Four people were hurt when a car being chased by police crashed into a power pole in Sun Valley Sunday night, officials said.

The Toyota crashed about 8:45 p.m. in the 9300 block of Glenoaks Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Officers first thought three people were injured until they realized one person was trapped in the wreckage.

The four people were wanted by police for burglary, and they will be taken into custody after medical treatment, LAPD officials said.

A vehicle in San Francisco’s South of Market district fatally struck a pedestrian early Sunday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

At about 2:35 a.m. the CHP received a report of a pedestrian who had been struck near the Fourth Street on-ramp to westbound Interstate Highway 80, the CHP said.

The pedestrian died at the scene and the driver of the vehicle cooperated with the investigation, according to the CHP.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation and the name of the deceased pedestrian has not yet been released, the CHP said.

Authorities found a bicyclist lying in the roadway at the intersection of Calimesa Boulevard and Singleton Road. According to witnesses, the bicyclist was traveling southbound and a vehicle crossed the divider and struck the bicyclist head on. The victim's name has been identified as Banning area resident Phil Richards.

One person was killed and six others were injured when the brakes in their van apparently gave out near Gold Run in Placer County, authorities said. Emergency officials got a call from someone inside the Chevy Astro van about 4:40 p.m. and were told that it was traveling west on Interstate 80 and was out of control, according to CHP Officer Chris Nave.

Two men were hospitalized after the plane they were traveling in struck a building and crashed in Pacoima Sunday. Los Angeles firefighters responded to the 10350 block of North San Fernando Road around 1 p.m. following reports of a small plane down. A spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration, says a single-engine Cessna 172 was inbound to Whiteman Airport when the pilot decided to execute a missed approach and come around for another landing attempt. During the landing approach, the plane struck a building and crashed into a used car lot.

A suspected DUI driver was arrested after crashing into an Orange County home and killing a resident who was in bed inside early Sunday, officials said. A man was killed when the vehicle struck the Mission Viejo home just before 4 a.m., according to the Orange County Fire Authority. The man was in bed when the vehicle struck the home. The victim was pronounced dead on arrival, officials said. Two people inside the vehicle suffered minor injuries, officials said. The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, authorities said.

Part of state Highway 29 in Napa was reopened Saturday morning after an injury crash blocked both traffic in both directions of the roadway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 6:45 a.m. on Highway 29 at Whitehall Lane, the CHP was reporting.

A driver in a red jeep struck a tree and reportedly became pinned beneath the car’s steering wheel, according to the CHP.
The crash caused the car to catch fire, which a passerby used a fire extinguisher to put out, according to the CHP.
