A 17-year-old Jupiter girl was killed early this morning in a one-car accident at Military Trail and Toney Penna Drive, Jupiter police said. Lynnae N. Copeland was traveling north on Military Trail in a 2001 Volkswagen Passat when she attempted to make a right turn onto Toney Penna Drive, according to officer Adam Brown, spokesman for the Jupiter Police Department. She lost control of the car and collided with a light pole. Copeland was transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center, where she died of her injuries.

Five people have been injured, three seriously, in a rollover crash on I-95 near the Lantana Road exit, said a spokesman for Palm Beach County Fire Rescue. Rescue crews responding to the 10:17 a.m. crash found that several people had been ejected from their vehicles. An initial report indicated that one person may had been ejected onto the Tri-Rail tracks, causing the rail service to be temporarily suspended. No one was found lying on the tracks, and a short time later Tri-Rail service was resumed.

49-year-old Kyle Marc Aaron Matteson of Jensen Beach died Saturday after crashing the 1999 Yamaha ATV he was driving. Matteson was traveling northbound along the west side of the Florida East Coast Railroad's right of way in Jensen Beach. According to FHP, he steered the ATV sharply to the left and in doing so the vehicle overturned. Matteson was trapped underneath the vehicle. The time of the crash is unknown.

A man injured in a motorcycle crash Saturday in Jupiter has died. Jeffrey J. Guiffre, 61, of Jupiter, was turning left onto Military Trail from Dakota Drive at about 4:30 p.m. when Jupiter Police say he lost control of his motorcycle and tumbled onto the street. When firefighters arrived, they found him lying motionless on the street, in the town’s Abacoa section. He was airlifted to St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach, where he died of his injuries.

A tractor-trailer hauling molasses crashed in a rural area of Palm Beach County on Friday morning, injuring the driver.

At 5:41 a.m., emergency crews responded to the wreck in the 1000 block of County Rd. 827A.

The semi was upside down with the trailer partially in the canal, and the driver still inside the cab.

Firefighters had to cut the driver from the cab and transported him to Delray Medical Center by Trauma Hawk.

Officials said there was a minor fuel leak, but it was contained, and none entered a nearby canal.

A portion of Interstate 95 North in Delray Beach is closed Friday after a chemical leak.

At noon., two right lanes are closed near the Linton Boulevard exit. Traffic is slowed to about 30 mph and backed up less than a mile.
According to the Delray Beach Fire Department, a 55-gallon drum being hauled by a trailer was leaking polystyrene.

Delray Beach Fire Rescue said the spill is not serious or dangerous.

A two-year-old girl was struck and killed by a car at the 600 block of Angler Drive in the Delray Shores community within Delray Beach on Friday.

Initially the driver involved in the crash left the scene, but returned and is currently cooperating with the on-going traffic homicide investigation.
As this is an ongoing investigation, the driver has not yet been charged with any crimes.

The scene of a deadly tanker crash on Interstate 95 just south of 45th Street is now clear following a night of traffic backups on the interstate, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. All lanes were reopened just before 11:00 p.m. Friday night, close to seven hours after the accident occurred. Warner Letterman, 41, of Greenacres died after the front tire of the septic truck he was driving blew out causing him to lose control of the vehicle and crash into a tree, said an FHP spokesperson.

A 52-year-old woman was killed Monday in Boca Raton after an early-morning crash.

Around 4:40 a.m., the driver, Wendy Starr Smith, was heading east on Glades Road, approaching Encino Lane.

Her car left the road and struck a concrete utility pole at the southeast corner of the intersection. Smith died at the scene.
Investigators said impairment did not appear to be factor in the wreck.

An unexpected medical episode may have occurred, or the driver may have fallen asleep while driving. No other vehicles were involved.

This morning around 6:23 a.m., Port St. Lucie police responded to the intersection of SE Green River Parkway and SE Charleston Drive to investigate a fatal crash involving a motorcycle and a mini-van. A 46-year-old woman, identified as Donna Sue Scarberry of Port St. Lucie, was riding a 1992 Harley Davidson motorcycle traveling south on SE Green River Parkway approaching the intersection of SE Charleston Drive.
