According to authorities, 15-year-old Summer Ungerank of Pocahontas was killed when the 2008 Chevrolet Aveo she was riding in ran off of Bellview Road at a high speed, struck a tree, and overturned. The accident happened at 7:30 p.m. Monday in Randolph County. Two other teen girls in the vehicle, ages 16 and 14, recieved unknown injuries in the accident. Jimmy A. Holland of Edgemont was driving north on Arkansas Highway 25 around 5:30 p.m. when a vehicle traveling south, driven by Bobby Stark of Searcy swerved into oncoming traffic. Stark's vehicle struck the left front of Holland's vehicle, killing Holland. Stark was brought to the hospital in Heber Springs; his condition is unknown at this time.
Two people died in a car accident on Interstate 40 in West Memphis, Arkansas. Six cars were involved in the crash and at least one of them caught fire. Investigators think the weather and construction on I-40 were factors in the crash. A 13-year-old girl is among those people injured, and is being treated at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital.
