Two people died after their vehicle was struck by a train in northern Minnesota around 5:33 p.m. Wednesday on Highway 11 in Roseau. A Ford Focus was northbound at a railroad crossing when the driver slowed at a stop sign but didn’t stop the vehicle. The car went across the tracks and was struck on the driver’s side by an eastbound train, which shoved the car into a ditch. Aaron Cook, 35, of Warroad, Minnesota, and Sheryl Reed, 33, of Macon, Georgia, died in the crash.

At around 5:30pm, a car driven by Cook that Reed was riding in slowed at a stop sign on Highway 11, but still continued onto the railroad tracks despite an approaching train and was struck by it on the driver's side, killing both people in the car. The train engineer was not injured in the crash.

Suncica and Sejfudin Sejdninovic were riding in a Jeep on U.S. Highway 63 when the vehicle hit a patch of ice and Suncica, who was, driving, lost control. Both people sustained non-life threatening injuries and were taken to a hospital in Rochester. Both were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

Cheron Swanson, 68, of Dayton, was driving east on County Road 81 Friday around 4 pm when she was struck head-on by a car driven by Michael Kelley, 54, who was traveling westbound in the eastbound lane. Kelley, of Dayton, was also killed in the crash. A vehicle traveling westbound on County Road 81 had crossed over into the eastbound lane, causing an initial two-car sideswipe collision. The sideswiped vehicle then hit another vehicle. Three people suffered non-critical injuries in this first crash.

There are almost no details on the crash itself, but it has been confirmed that Johnson was killed and Kroll was injured as the result of a two vehicle crash. We will update this accident as more information is released.

Kassandra Keske was driving southbund on U.S. 169 when she lost control of her car on an icy stretch of road and collided with both an SUV and a pickup going the other way on the road. Keske died at the scene, and the driver of the SUV was hospitalized. The driver of the pickup truck was not hurt.

Sometime in the morning, a Jeep ended up striking a semi-truck as the truck was turning left, injuring both drivers. Both Keil, who was in the Jeep, and Shoen, who was in the semi-truck, were hospitalized, though their injuries were non-life threatening.

The multi-part crash began at about 6:03pm when a pickup truck driven by Kingbird, 51, with Hawk, 47, as a passenger veered over the center line into oncoming traffic and struck a car driven by Lindstrom, 23. Kingbird's truck then proceeded to collide head-on with another vehicle driven by Karen Mix, 27, with Brooke Mix, 4, Fineday, 28, and Garbow, 25 as passengers. Everyone in the crash was injured, including Fineday who remains in critical condition. Check back for updates and more details on this accident.

Gabriel Kemp of Bluffton, Minnesota, was killed in a head-on collision with a semi-truck early Saturday morning on Highway 71 at 120th Street in the Verndale area of Wadena County at about 12:45 a.m. Kemp was a passenger in a car driven by Tyler Langer, 22, heading north on Highway 71. The car crossed the center line and hit a semi heading south. Kemp died at the crash site. Langer was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the commercial truck had no apparent injuries.

Shortly before 4:00pm in a residential area near Hastings, a car on Ravenna Trail crossed over into the oncoming lane and struck an SUV head-on. One of the passengers in the SUV as well as the driver of the car were both pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, while another passenger in the SUV sustained injuries but is now stable, and it's driver was hospitalized with critical injuries.
