Randy Dean Hall was driving on Alabama 21 when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. He was taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries. He was apparently not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

William Bernard Morgan was struck and killed by a train in southwest Birmingham; he was killed not far from where he lived. Authorities say he was seen staggering near the tracks before he was struck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators have identified the man struck and killed by an Amtrak train in Tuscaloosa Thursday afternoon as a local 21-year-old man.

Sgt. Dale Phillips, the commander of the Tuscaloosa County Metro Homicide Unit, said the victim was Cecil Dillon Ross, who was struck by the train and killed around 1 p.m. Thursday.

Phillips said witnesses reported that Ross was wearing headphones while walking down the track and may have never heard the train coming.

Authorities have identified a man killed Sunday morning after he was struck by a train in Bessemer.

The Jefferson County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 30-year-old Derrick Little of Bessemer. The crash happened at the 20th Street and Carolina Ave intersection.

Bessemer police said officers were called to the scene at 9:02 a.m. and found a dead male. Miles said that it appears the railroad arms at the intersection were functioning properly at the time of the accident.

The investigation is ongoing.

A single-vehicle crash on Sunday in Chilton County claimed the life of a Prattville teenager.

Alabama State Troopers say 18-year-old Christy Christian was killed when the 2005 Nissan Altima she was driving, left the roadway and overturned. The accident occurred at 3:13 a.m. on Interstate 65 southbound at mile marker 214, which is two miles north of Clanton.

Authorities in Calhoun County say a woman and her 7-year-old son died when their car was hit by a train in Oxford.

Coroner Pat Brown tells the Anniston Star 35-year-old Temeshica Chatman and her son Nytavioun Powell were both ejected from the car when it was hit by a train Saturday morning.

Brown says Chatman was pronounced dead at the scene and her son died at the Regional Medical Center in Anniston. Oxford Police Chief Bill Partridge says Chatman's 20-year-old daughter was driving the car and was airlifted to UAB Hospital in Birmingham with life-threatening injuries.

An early morning train derailment near Gadsden's Goodyear Tire and Rubber Plant tangled traffic for several hours along East Meighan Boulevard. Gadsden Police Capt. Bobby Jackson said the accident happened about 3 a.m. when a locomotive engine became caught in an area along the median of the four lane road. Workers at the scene said it appeared that pavement resurfacing work near the tracks may have contributed to the derailment. By 7:30 a.m. traffic was flowing around the accident on two lanes.

Two people are dead and three others injured after the truck they were in was hit by a train in Tuscaloosa Tuesday morning, a representative for the Alabama State Troopers said Wednesday. The accident occurred on at the rail crossing at the intersection of Larry Nolan Road and University Boulevard East near Cottondale. It is not clear if the snow showers, icy roads and other winter conditions that plagued drivers in the state Tuesday were a major contributing factor to the collision.
