JEFFERSON COUNTY, AR -- A teenager has died in a single vehicle accident. Cody L. Farley, 17, died in the Sunday evening crash. It happened around 6:30 near River Rd., just outside of Redfield. Farley, who was a passenger in the backseat, was thrown out of the vehicle. He was unresponsive when emergency crews arrived and immediately taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center, where he later died. The driver was identified as William Cook, 26. His sister, Kimberly Cook was also in the vehicle.

Police in Pine Bluff say the suspected driver in a fatal hit-and-run collision that killed a teenager has been arrested. Police told reporters that 14-year-old Charles Jones was killed Friday night when he was struck while crossing U.S. 79 on the city's south side. Police say witnesses reported that the driver left the scene -- but a car matching the description of the one that struck Jones was later found and the suspected driver arrested early Saturday.

A search was called off because of darkness early Saturday night for one of two people who jumped from an interstate bridge in southwestern Arkansas into an icy river to avoid a jackknifed 18-wheeler that was skidding toward them.

The search for the missing person along the Little Red River was to resume Sunday morning, according to Keith Stephens, a spokesman for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, which was leading the search.

"The water is 25 feet or less, so it's pretty shallow," Stephens said. "But the current is pretty high from the snow and ice from the storms."
