Cleveland-Akron, OHAn Avon Lake man has been charged with aggravated vehicular assault after he fled the scene of an accident and seriously injured a woman who was driving to work, police said.
Alexander Potoczak, 22, was driving an Audi on Bradley Road in Westlake when he hit another car around 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday and fled the scene, police said.
"He took off, struck another car and caused some serious injury to the other driver," said Capt. Guy Turner, public information officer for the Westlake police department.

Washington, DCA University of Maryland student, Cory Hubbard, 22, was fatally struck by a vehicle early Friday as he crossed a street in College Park, in what police are calling a hit-and-run collision. Hubbard was struck shortly before 2 a.m. while walking across Baltimore Avenue at the intersection of Knox Road when he was hit.

Wednesday, January 15, 2014A Wellington woman has been arrested by the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office and charged with DUI and leaving the scene of an accident. Deputies say that just before 11 p.m. Thursday night they were called to Summit Blvd and Congress Ave about a possible DUI driver. Investigators say that they found Jennifer Sorgie sitting in her vehicle in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven with the engine still on. Deputies say that her Dodge Durango had extensive front end damage and a blown out tire.

Raleigh-Durham, NCA 16-year-old North Carolina girl died following a hit-and-run collision Thursday night.
Justice Yasmeem Smith was hit around 9:40 p.m. in north Raleigh. She later died at a hospital.
The suspect vehicle fled the scene and hasn't been found yet, Raleigh police said.
Smith was a junior at Wake Forest High School. Counselors will go to the school Wednesday, when classes resume.

Indianapolis, INPolice were looking for a vehicle after a person was taken to the hospital on Tuesday morning following a hit-and-run crash.
Officers responded to the area of East 38th Street and Alsace Place around 7:40 a.m. This is just west of North Post Road.
Police dispatchers say a person was hit by a vehicle that then left the scene.
The vehicle is described as a blue-grey 90s type minivan. The vehicle was last seen heading eastbound on 38th Street from Alsace.
Officers were out looking for the car Tuesday morning.

Thursday, January 9, 2014Two people were injured in a hit-and-run accident that took place around 6:04 p.m. Friday in the 400 block of Oakland Park Boulevard in Port Orange.
Dean Warmkessel, 66, and his wife Donna Warmkessel, 63, were believed to be attempting to cross the street when they were struck by the vehicle that subsequently fled the scene.
The only description of the vehicle at this time is a loud muffler and a possible missing antenna. The extent of the damage is unknown.
The couple was taken to Halifax Medical Center where Dean was treated in ICU and Donna is said to have non-life threatening injuries.

Indianapolis, INThe Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department was investigating a serious crash on the city's northwest side on Friday morning where a person was hit by a vehicle that then left the scene.
Around 7:30 a.m., police were called to the 7100 block of Crystal Bay Drive which is just east of Westlane and Michigan Road.
Callers reported an unconscious person was lying in the middle of the street.
Police confirm there was a pedestrian that was struck by a vehicle.
Witnesses described a green minivan seen heading eastbound from the scene with damage to the windshield.

Thursday, January 9, 2014A motorcyclist was killed Friday morning in a possible hit-and-run collision on westbound Interstate Highway 580 in West Oakland, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The two left lanes of westbound I-580, just east of I-80, are blocked due to the collision, according to the CHP.
The CHP received a report of the incident at 6:23 a.m. and a Sigalert was issued at 6:43 a.m., the CHP said.
The motorcyclist has been identified as an adult male, but his name has not yet been released pending notification of his next of kin.

Oklahoma City, OKOklahoma City police are looking for a driver they say was involved in a hit-and-run accident with a MetroTransit bus. Officers say the crash occurred near North Classen Boulevard and Northwest 10th Street. Authorities say they are looking for a white truck that fled the scene.

Wednesday, January 8, 2014A crash in Hampton caused nearly 400 customers to lose power late Thursday night.
Police on the scene of the crash in the area of Shell Road and Tabb Street believe a vehicle forced another vehicle to hit a power pole around 10 p.m. Officers said they believe the incident is a hit-and-run as no one was on scene when they arrived.
According to Dominion Virginia Power, the crash ended up breaking power poles and caused the power to go out for 390 customers in the area. Crews had to drop power to another 120 customers in order to make repairs. All power was restored around 6 a.m. Friday.
