Douglas R. Foster was traveling north on State Road 24 on a motorcycle when he lost control of the vehicle and it fell on its left side. Foster and his passenger, Linda Ramsden, were thrown from the vehicle. They were both taken to UF Health Shands Hospital. Foster was pronounced dead, and Ramsden was listed in critical condition.
On Friday afternoon, a Toyota pulled into the path of a motorcycle on State Road 520 and Friday Road. The motorcycle crashed into the Toyota, killing the driver, 69-year-old man, at the scene. A passenger on the motorcycle, a 56-year-old woman, was transported in critical condition to Holmes Regional Medical Center. We'll update this story as more information becomes available.
The driver of a white Sedan was traveling on 11th Street near School Avenue when they apparantly became distracted and crossed into the path of a school bus, resulting in a near head-on collision. One student was on board but they were not injured, Both drivers were taken to a local hospital. Authorities say that foggy waether was partially to blame for this accident.
The two people, a 53-year-old man and a female passenger, were riding on a motorcycle on Ocean Boulevard when the vehicle crashed. No other vehicles were involved. The man was not wearing a helmet, but the woman was. The man was flown by medical helicopter to St. Mary's Medical Center with a head injury. The woman was also taken to St. Mary's by ambulance for treatment of minor road rash.
Authorities reported an SUV was traveling westbound on Roberts Aman Road while a semi- truck was driving northbound on Highway 221. The driver of the SUV neglected yield to the semi-truck and pulled forward from the stop sign at the intersection of Roberts Aman Road and US HWY 221. The fron of the truck crashed into the side of the SUV.
