John Young Middle School student Zachary Bielinski, 15, was struck and killed by a train around 5:00 p.m. Thursday in Mishawaka at a railroad crossing near main street. The boy was struck while standing on the north track watching an eastbound train pass. Witnesses say the train sounded its horn for what seemed like 30 seconds. The death has been ruled an accident.

A man walking along train tracks near North Franklin Road and East 46th Street was hit and killed around 6 p.m. Friday evening. According to police, the conductor warned the man with the whistle but the man did not appear to have heard or noticed the train approaching. A phone a pair of headphones were found close by.

One person has been injured after a coal truck rolled over on Saturday afternoon. The driver of the coal truck is suffering from severe injuries. the road is still shut down due to the clean up of all the coal. We will update this story as more information becomes available.

One person has died in a crash on I-65 southbound at State Road 11 north of Seymour in Jackson County. The accident involved a motorcyclist, James McHugh Jr., 58 of Prospect Heights, Illinois who died after hitting a tractor-trailer operated by Richard E. Gavin, 52 of Gainesville, Fla.

Indiana State Police are on the scene of a fatal tractor accident in Spencer County northeast of Santa Claus. ISP say 60-year-old Charles W. Kuntz of Ferdinand was on County Road 1700 N. heading west when his tractor locked up due to unknown reason. They tell us that Kuntz was crushed when the tractor veered off the road and rolled over. The accident was reported on County Road 1700 N. Authorities say no other vehicles were involved in the accident.

Witnesses reported seeing Miller approaching in the passing lane and swerving into the median at the last minute. A third vehicle hit the axle of Miller’s car after the initial impact of the first two cars, police said. As a result of the impact, Miller was thrown from the vehicle and the SUV flipped, coming to rest on its top side.  Miller was killed as a result of injuries sustained in the accident. Wright-Marksberry climbed out of the back window of her car and was later airlifted to St. Vincent Hospital via Stat Flight helicopter due to lower leg and possible head injuries.
