Salt Lake City, UTA car pulled onto a railroad crossing on private land at around 2:30 a.m., where it was struck by an Amtrak train. The driver died at the scene. Crews had to be called in to remove the remains of the vehicle from the track. The driver has not yet been identified.

Salt Lake City, UTA California Zephyr train was headed west toward Elko around 2:30 a.m. when it struck a car at a crossing on private land, approximately a mile north of Interstate 80. The driver of the car, a man, was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was in the car. No train passengers or crew were injured. We'll update this story as more details emerge.
