Darryl Williams of Bordentown, New Jersey died after being trapped in his Toyota Corolla during a deadly pileup of 40 vehicles during a mix of rain and snow on the New Jersey Turnpike, according to state police. The accident happened near exit 8A in Cranbury Township and included four tractor-trailers, two box trucks and a fully loaded bus. In a series of chain-reaction crashes, there were 21 vehicles involved in multiple accidents on the inner roadway, which is reserved for cars, and 19 vehicles involved in crashes on the outer roadway, which is used by both trucks and cars.
