It was about 3:20 p.m. when Michele Schuster, 23, was driving northward on Cox Road and for some reason crossed over the center line to the left shoulder, where she crashed through traffic cones before colliding with a bucket truck and four workers who were standing around it. Those workers have been identified as Tiffanie McCants, 35, Billy Moore, 47, Joseph Olephant, 53, and Amber Marie Rooks, 24. One worker was in the bucket truck at the time of the collision, he has been identified as Blake Patton, 22.

Thomas Sweigard, 53, of Columbus, was approaching a construction zone in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 near Route 4 in Clark County late Thursday night when he changed lanes to pass slowed traffic. Sweigard, whom witnesses reported was driving at a hight speed, rear-ended a semi, and his van was crushed under the truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers are investigating an accident near West Jefferson that left one person dead after striking a piece of construction equipment. According reportsl, at about 10:46 a.m. Saturday, troopers were called to State Route 142 near County Road 70 on the report of a single vehicle crash. When they arrived at the accident, troopers found a car that had crashed into the back of a piece of heavy construction equipment. Troopers said 35-year-old Clint J. Millay, of Whitehall, was driving a 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis east on a part of S.R.

Two people were hospitalized after crashing a vehicle into a piece of construction equipment on the east side of Columbus early Wednesday morning. According to Columbus police, the driver of an SUV traveling south on North Cassady Avenue in the area of East 13th Street was attempting to go around a backhoe that was backing into the street when the SUV struck the back of the piece of equipment at about 2:57 a.m. Police say the backhoe was backing out of a construction project in the area when the crash occurred.
