Two people were riding skateboards on Galley Road when they attempted to cross westbound lanes of traffic and one of the skaters was struck by a car. The car, described as a 2004 to 2008 phantom gray pearl colored Toyota Corolla, kept going after the collision and did not stop to render aid. The 19-year-old skater suffered serious injuries and was hospitalized. Several days later Kyle Atkinson, 21, was arrested in connection with the accident. He faces a charge of accidents involving death or personal injuries, which is a class four felony.
Witnesses called 911 to report a hit-and-run collision involving a 17-year old boy who was struck by a newer model Dodge Magnum while skateboarding. Police found the suspect’s vehicle and identified the driver who had been behind the wheel as a 16-year-old boy from Renton. Finnell was taken to the hospital, but later died from his injuries. The hit-and-run suspect is in custody at the King County Juvenile Detention Facility.
